FIND YOUR TRIBE

Scarlett is a script writer and producer from Birmingham. She went to university to study English Literature. During which, she had to do a syllabus in screen writing which, made her realise it was what she really wanted to do. Whilst doing her degree she entered the Rain Dance Film Festival Competition in which, she came runner up for creating a sixteen second film as that was the remit of the competition. Coming runner up encouraged Scarlett to make a career from script writing and film making so rather than applying to do her master’s degree she decided to learn about TV and film making on the job.

Scarlett started taking roles as a runner and then quickly moved up to production coordinator roles after just 6 months. In no time she was working on TV shows such as Casualty in a second assistant director role. Unfortunately, Scarlett was struck by chronic illness which, led to her gaining a disability affecting her mobility and giving her chronic pains. Although it is something Scarlett campaigns against her disability was unsuitable for the fast pace of TV and film production, so Scarlett took time off and decided to focus on script writing and development.

From her networking and contacts, she began gaining work for her writing. This made Scarlett realise that this was an industry where a network and friends are needed. She then decided to form a group which, has become a support network for female script writers called Script Sirens. This is a group of script writers who work within TV and film and support each other personally and professionally. They have also collaborated on several productions winning multiple awards.
