BE BRAVE

Sameera has been an industry professional since 2011. She first began her journey in the creative industries going to college to study art and then to university to study graphic design. As she got deeper into her studies, she began to realise that this was not exactly what she wanted to do. After taking some time out she decided to go and study special effects for makeup in TV and film as well as working part time on a makeup counter. She then went on to work for Lancôme Skincare and Makeup as a professional makeup artist.

Sameera began working for Lancôme as a counter makeup artist developing her knowledge and skills of makeup within TV and films. As she gained more skills, she worked her way up the career ladder within the organisation. This involved traveling around the country to places like London and Ireland to work in stores as a makeup artist. She worked in many places for TV such as the BAFTA’s which, supported her to become known aa a professional make-up artist for TV and film.

Sameera then began to teach within the organisation and realised she really enjoyed teaching. She went and got a teaching qualification then began applying to colleges and university for teaching positions as she wanted to come away from the fast pace of make-up in TV and film. She decided to step down from her position after 6 years to work as a freelance makeup artist joining a team of freelancers working mainly in London. She also applied to teach at the Central School of Makeup in Birmingham and now teaches there on a part time basis.
