Tru Powell is a creative entrepreneur who is very well known and respected for his work within the creative industry. He began his journey within the creative industry from a very early age creating his own talent show in a derelict space where he invited guest and found children to perform. This inspired him to always want to host his own events in the future. As an adult he worked at the Drum in Aston now known as the Legacy Centre of Excellence. Where he was head hunted by an organisation to manage their events which, were for some of the largest organisation in the city. Tru took the role which, allowed him to meet many individuals within the world of business and develop a strong network in and out of the city.
Tru then decided to leave the organisation and set up his own events management company. After setting up his new company he went back to the organisation for them to contract his newbusiness. He used his network to develop his business and further his position as a creative. Tru has sat on the board of the Chartered Management Institute as well as taken a non -executive directors’ role at TAG Network Midlands Limited, and an executive directors’ role at the MBCC Awards as he believes it is important to have members of the community around the table to be an example to others and give our community a voice.
He is now a regular guest on Breakfast TV as a voice for the community and produces his own podcast. He owns and runs several successful businesses including an events management company, a consultancy and coaching company and a children’s salon.
