Namywa is a music artist, song writer, composer and CEO of a female talent development agency called Girl Grind UK. she was first inspired by shows she watched on TV such as That’s So Raven, and Fresh Prince starring Will Smith. She sang from a young age as she came from a family of singers who sang and performed in the church. This is where Namywa first began developing her talents for music and performing. As she got older, she sang more and more performing with live music. She brought together a band to and started attending open mics and jamming sessions. This supported her to become known within the industry with other liver performers and musicians. Many who wanted to work with her.
After leaving University Namywa began to get noticed for her live performing which, began to bring her bookings for her and her band to perform. She began working with more and more creatives on live shows and saw that many creatives especially females found choosing a creative profession a struggle. This is when Namywa decided to set up her own female talent development agency to support female creatives with the personal and professional development. Through this she gained funding for a six-month development programme through Youth Music to support 6 female artists.
Namywa and Girl Grind UK have now delivered the talent development programme several times as well as supported 13 musicians who were not on the programme to gain funding to develop their own project. She also runs song writing camps where she takes female artist to professional studios in London to develop their music. Namywa has made great progress not in her own career as a live music artist and supported many local women to develop their own music and careers in the creative industry.
