Andrew is a graphic designer, the founder of Wisper Magazine, and the founder of the Children’s Black History Activity Books. Andrew worked as a cleaner in a job which, he thought was dead end with no prospects. So one day he decided to walk out and leave. He was a skilled drawer from a young age and went to college to study graphic design. After leaving college he went to work for Pinder designing adverts for the Yellow Pages.
Whilst working at Pinder he decided to develop his own magazine as he saw a lack of diversity of Black people in the media. This magazine would feature local stories, influencers celebrities. Andrew researched and wrote the stories, designed the pages, found a company to print the magazines and then distributed them himself all over Birmingham on his mountain bike. After the success of the first few copies of the magazine he began to generate an income through advertising from the local council and other local businesses.
Andrew self-produced and distributed Wisper magazine for several years before deciding it was too much work and went to do more freelance work to give himself more personal time. In this time, he had an idea to develop a children’s activity book. After spending a year or so doing research he developed a book series in the same way he developed his magazine through his own research, creative design, and distributions. Only this time he travelled to countries in Africa and around the USA to distribute his books and sell hundreds of copies here in the UK as well as those countries he travelled.
